Rip John Kelly

New York GAA extends our deepest and most sincere condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of John Kelly on his passing.

John was a proud Chairman of the New York Hurling Division and a valued member of New York Galway Club. He was deeply involved in the GAA throughout his life, holding many different positions and giving so much of his time, energy, and passion to the association.

John’s passion was New York GAA, where he was a central figure as a player, manager, selector, and benefactor. His dedication to the development and growth of the GAA in New York leaves a lasting legacy, and his contribution to our community will not be forgotten.

He was also a passionate, lifelong supporter of Galway GAA, and some of his happiest memories were made travelling to Croke Park, proudly cheering on Galway and sharing those special days with family and friends.

John was much more than a member of the GAA — he was a friend, a mentor, a supporter, and an important part of the New York GAA family. His presence, generosity, and love for the games will be deeply missed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with John’s family, friends, teammates, and the wider GAA community at this very difficult time.

Reposing will be held on Thursday, October 1st from 4:00–8:00 p.m. at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, 2 Maple Avenue, White Plains, N.Y.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, October 2nd, at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of the Sacred Heart. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, N.Y.
